Hal Cort has owned Metal Craft Fabrications since 2003 when he decided to take his experience as a Harley Davidson Technician and open his own business in his garage doing HD engine work, repair and custom welding. His business is almost purely word-of-mouth and in 2006, when his garage was no longer large enough to handle his trade, he moved it to American Heli-Arc where he still stays busy with his own business as well as working on collaborative efforts in the shop. In his custom work Hal stresses reliability over fashion but does acknowledge that finding the right combination of “looking good” and running well is the key to custom work on Harleys. Some of the more popular work people are looking for from him include: custom fabrication, engine performance packages and hand built custom wiring harnesses.
Hal’s first love is Drag Racing and he works on both bike and car dragsters – including his own top fuel racing bike which he races himself. As he puts it, he is a one man show as far as racing is concerned and during the spring to fall racing season he averages 2 races per month. Tom Young emphasizes that Hal has done what very few drag racers have ever accomplished because he built a top fuel race bike from the ground up – complete frame, motor plates, wheelie bars, fenders, fuel tank, etc. Hal is one of the few people who has completely fabricated and built a top fuel bike and also personally races that bike at almost 200mph. Tom well remembers the day Hal bought his bike and has enjoyed being in an “up close and personal” position like the day he was there when Hal clocked 169mph in 1/8 mile!

Hal’s Metal Craft Racing Team sponsors have allowed him to expand his efforts in the racing arena – interested sponsors please contact Hal at:
